The Sri Venkateswara Swami temple in Tirumala hills of Tirupati on Monday underwent “ritualistic sanitation” after alleged sacrilegious practices including mixing animal fats in making Laddus. According to a PTI report,

The ritual which included the installation of three 'homagundams' at the Yagashala within the temple premises, was intended to nullify the 'sinful effects' of using the tainted ingredients.

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister earlier announced the formation of the SIT to probe into the alleged incident in which famous 'prasadam' contained 'animal fat'.
