the view is below average for the area, trees don't provide much shade... parking is hard to find. visit Kirkland, Belleuve, Seattle, Renton is 2nd class... or worse. Full review by Departure41170479022

Yes, it is paved for about 1 mile and has two pedestrian bridges with views of the lake all along, and passing through lovely trees and plants, with birds, turtles, bunny rabbits to see. There is a large and quite nice playground on the Southern end, a swim area with diving platform, a tiny island to explore. It is an iconic area, beautifully natural in places but right next-door to the original Boeing airplane manufacturing plant (you can often see airplanes or fuselages that were recently made). There are benches and some picnic tables, and two restaurants (Kidd Valley and Ivars), with lots of inside and outside seating. Both have a beautiful view of the lake. Dogs are not allowed though, and there are ducks and geese that you are not allowed to feed (at one time they were terrible nuicance; the place was once (2 decades ago) plastered with bird feces, where you could not even sit down on the grass. It was dealt with in a not so humane way. But it is nice and clean now, so don't feed the ducks or geese or you get a fine. There are benches and some picnic tables along the way. It's really a lovely place, and one example of how thoughtful development can improve upon the nature.

there are bbq areas at the north end. many of Renton's parks require reservation for their covered eating areas, however, so you should check the city's website on parks for that to see if it is needed for bbq. if there are no reservations, it would be first come first served, and that park fills up on nice days, so check for reservations.
